I’ve worked for Kurt at two motorcycle racing events (an AMA Superbike Event at PPIR in Colorado and a World Superbike Event at Laguna Seca in California) as a photographer for his online magazine (www.vonconcepts.com). He has such a friendly demeanor and an infectious smile that it’s difficult not wanting to get to know him. He has an uncanny way of meeting “people who know people.” And it usually leads to some amazing adventures. Kurt is an incredible guy who is a man of his word. I’ve also had the fortune to ride with Kurt on a few Sunday rides in the canyons of Colorado. I could never keep up with him, but at least I knew that I started with him at the gas station. He never bragged about being fast, because he never had to… you just knew it. He has some great racing stories and if you have time, he’ll tell you a few you’ll never forget. Kurt joined Suzuki late in the summer of 2016, and for me personally, it was good to have him on board as our Technical Publications & Training Manager. During his time at Suzuki, Kurt provided me with the freedom to do the work I do best. He was never overbearing or unreasonable. Instead, he was always mindful of my professional and personal interests (including mountain biking, which is something we both enjoy), and he was always willing to let me speak my mind. Just as importantly, Kurt would always back me and the other team members when something unexpected arose, which sometimes included jumping in to help. I was fortunate to have Kurt as my manager in the Technical Training and Publications department at Suzuki Motor of America Inc. for almost three years. There isn’t enough room to capture my true appreciation for Kurt. As a young student, Kurt took me under his wing to introduce me to a new career opportunity. He helped cultivate my interest in the motorcycle industry and opened the door for me to meet some of the professionals in the industry, sit first hand in the post race media room, provide race photography for Kurt’s online magazine, and meet some of the racer’s that I had idolized.
